An efficient and transparent environmental management system
Our group is dedicated to protecting the environment and managing our production processes sustainably.
As a testament to our dedication the Environmental management system at our Gubbio plant on 04/09/2013 received UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 Certification.
ISO 14001 certification declares that CAB has implemented an efficient and transparent environmental management system, that allows it to:
- Identify and assess the environmental impact of its activities
- Establish objectives and goals in reducing environmental impacts
- Plan and implement actions to reach objectives and goals
- Monitor environmental performance and improve it continuously
- Prevent pollution and minimize environmental damage
- Meet legal requirements and other applicable regulations
- Improve internal and external communication on environmental management

The adoption of an ISO 14001 certified environmental management system has offered numerous advantages, both for the evironment and the company, including:

ISO 14001 certification is a starting point not an end goal. In CAB we are dedicated to continually improving our environmental management system and further reducing impacts on the environment.

Cements with low environmental impact
thanks to EPD certification
In addition to ISO 14001 certification of the environmental management system, we have obtained certifications declaring our dedication to sustainability: EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) Certification.
The Gubbio and Ravenna plants, on 20/10/2014, obtained EPD certification accordance with ISO 14025 for each type of hydraulic binder produced.
EPD certification was obtained through a LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) study, that assesses the life cycle of cements produced, determining their environmental performance.
The LCA study allowed us to:
- Identify and assess the items that have the greatest impact on an environmental level the clinker and cement production processes, in relation to the various environmental indicators analyzed and reported in the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
- Identify possible areas of intervention to reduce the environmental impact of production.
EPD certification demonstrates Cementerie Aldo Barbetti trasparency in communicating the environmental impact of its cements and its commitment to reducing their impact.
